This Mother’s Day, Know Her Power

By Rachel Bacheler, CEO of Dr.'s Remedy

Mother’s Day isn’t just about flowers and handmade cards. For me, it’s a pause—a moment to honor the resilience, sacrifice, and quiet strength that motherhood demands, especially when life doesn’t go as planned.

The year of my first Mother’s Day was filled with worry and uncertainty. Our firstborn was just six months old when my husband Adam left his job to open his own podiatry practice. It was bold, nerve-wracking, and in many ways, exactly what needed to happen. With a squirmy baby in a pack n’ play beside me and me holding down the front desk, we did what parents do—we figured it out.

That’s when the wheels for Dr.’s Remedy were truly set in motion. The idea had been planted earlier, but necessity pushed it to life. As a new mom with big dreams and bigger responsibilities, I didn’t have the luxury of waiting for the “perfect” moment. I had to create while parenting. Build while balancing. Work smarter, because working harder was already a given.

With three little ones at home (one still in diapers), I was commuting back and forth from Long Island, working as a television producer for major networks—juggling tight deadlines, late-night projects, and everything that came with a career in media. But behind the scenes, in stolen moments between nap times and train rides, I was quietly building something of my own. I was writing copy, naming nail polish shades, designing banners, and dreaming up the future of Dr.’s Remedy. I’d collapse into bed at 2 a.m., only to be woken by toddlers ready to start the day at 6. It was relentless—and it was purposeful. Because even in the exhaustion, I knew I was creating something that mattered.

Eventually, during our kids’ middle school years, I took the leap. It was time to lead the business I’d been nurturing in the margins of motherhood. We moved operations into our home and hired a small team of powerhouse women—some of them moms, just like me—who understood how to get things done with grit, grace, and determination. Together, we grew Dr.’s Remedy into a wellness-forward nail care brand that honored the very women it was created for.

But motherhood isn’t a straight path. When our oldest was finishing high school, we entered a chapter that would prove to be one of the most challenging yet. A diabetes diagnosis. Then cancer. Those years tested us more than anything before. And yet, moms do what moms do—we fight, we cry, we pray, and we keep showing up. Because that’s our power: to keep going when it matters most.

Looking back, every chapter of motherhood shaped Dr.’s Remedy—each sleepless night, each tough decision, each moment of doubt that we turned into drive. Alongside Adam, and thanks to the support of brilliant, compassionate women, we built more than a brand—we built a community. One that uplifts, empowers, and reminds every woman that taking care of yourself isn’t selfish. It’s revolutionary.

This Mother’s Day, I celebrate every mom who’s building something—whether it’s a business, a family, or just the strength to keep going. Know her strength. Know her sacrifice. Know her power.
