Our Frequently Asked Questions

General

  • Does Dr.’s REMEDY smell like traditional nail polishes?

    • Many customers report that our line is much less potent in smell than other mainstream polishes.
  • Is Dr.’s REMEDY antifungal?

    • We recently launched an Anti-Fungal Cuticle Oil that penetrates the skin and works at the source of a nail fungus. This effective cuticle oil works in conjunction with our polishes. While the polish line itself is cosmetic, our polishes are doctor formulated and doctor recommended to function as an adjunct to oral fungal medications. The essential ingredients infused in our polishes help prevent weak, brittle and discolored nails.

*Dr.’s REMEDY carries the APMA (American Podiatric Seal of Approval) due to its effectiveness and reputation.
  • What stores can I find Dr.’s REMEDY products near me?

    • Our line is currently sold on our website www.remedynails.com, in doctor’s offices, in spas and health clinics and on Amazon. If you are looking for a location near you, please call us: 1-877-323-6245

Application & Benefits

  • Can I use my own (another brand) nail polish over a Dr.’s REMEDY base coat and still get the benefits?

    • Our polishes have not been tested in conjunction with other nail polish brands. For optimal results, use our tested 3 step process. Choose 1 of three different base coat options (apply 1 coat), apply 2 coats of shaded polish followed by either TOTAL Two In One or CALMING Clear.
  • I have nail fungus on only one of my toe nails. Can I use the same bottle of Dr.’s REMEDY for all of my toenails or will the fungus spread?

    • In most cases, the same polish can be used without risk of spreading the fungus. Our chemists advise us that nail fungus ‘dies’ within the bottle and should not spread. However, we always advise that once the fungus is cleared, a fresh bottle is purchased.
  • Can I use Dr.’s REMEDY if I am also using a topical treatment for the nail fungus? Does Dr.’s REMEDY adversely affect the treatment?

    • Dr.’s REMEDY can be successfully applied over a fully dried topical medication. Furthermore, because our polishes are moisture and oxygen permeable, a topical such as PENLAC® can be applied over the polish as needed (and should penetrate the polish). *In very severe cases, we advise applying only 1 coat of polish in order for the medication to have its best chance of penetration.

Benefits and Features of our Product

  • Is Dr.’s REMEDY vegan and organic?

    • Dr.’s Remedy is a 100% vegan polish - not tested on animals. Dr.’s Remedy is also enriched with organic ingredients.
  • What makes Dr.’s REMEDY Enriched Nail Polish unique from other nail polishes?

    • Dr.’s REMEDY is doctor formulated, doctor recommended and enriched with a proprietary blend of organic ingredients which work to maintain and promote optimal nail health. Dr.‘s REMEDY was the first nail polish to Be awarded the Seal of Approval from the American Podiatric Medical Association. Dr.’s Remedy is also 10-free, including the controversial TPHP toxin.
  • What ‘special’ ingredients does Dr.’s REMEDY contain?

    • Dr.’s REMEDY has been enriched with a unique blend of organic ingredients:
Tea Tree Oil, an essential oil obtained from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia and is found to have antiseptic and antifungal benefits.

Garlic Bulb Extract contains Allicin, a powerful antibacterial, antifungal, and
antiviral agent that joins forces with Vitamin C to help kill harmful germs.

Vitamin E which promotes healthier skin and nails.

Wheat Protein, a vegetable derived, high quality protein which contains moisture binding capabilities and naturally increases shine.

Biotin, which is a water-soluble B-vitamin. Biotin is known to support healthy hair, skin and nails.

*Some of our products also contain lavender, kale, cactus and ginseng extracts
  • Who created Dr.’s REMEDY?

    • Dr. Cirlincione and Dr. Spielfogel are Board Certified Podiatrists who understand the need for a healthier, more natural nail polish. When working with chemists, the doctors stressed the importance of adding naturally occurring antifungals as well as strengthening agents such as vitamins and protein. Because they know the needs of their patients and the direct effects of the harsh chemicals contained in many commercial nail polishes. (ie: formaldehyde is believed to yellow and weaken the nail) they successfully created a line that continues to flourish since 2007.
  • Can children use Dr. 's REMEDY?

    • Yes! Young kids who opt to wear commercial nail polish are exposing themselves to toxic chemicals (like formaldehyde). Not only are nails porous, but children are often known for biting their nails and chipping off nail polish with their teeth. Choosing a healthier (cleaner) nail polish is a safer, smarter option.
  • I am a religious Muslim, can I wear Dr.’s REMEDY?

    • Dr.'s REMEDY is prayer safe because it’s both oxygen and moisture permeable. Our polishes allow water and oxygen to pass through, designed to allow your nails to heal and retain their best condition.
  • I have a wheat allergy, can I use Dr.’s REMEDY polish?

    • Should you have a specific health concern, we advise you to consult your physician
before beginning a new regimen. In most cases the amount of wheat contained in the polish should not affect those with an allergy. However, since nails are porous, testing a small area prior to use as well as consulting a physician is advised.
  • Does Dr.’s REMEDY test on animals?

    • NO! Dr.’s REMEDY believes that as a wellness-inspired brand, our duty to make sure that our products are also produced in a compassionate manner. There is no reason to buy products that have been tested on animals. Dr.’s REMEDY wants to encourage consumers to buy beauty products that make you feel beautiful on the inside and out.

    • Our sheer (natural/nude) shades are LOYAL Linen, PERFECT Petal Pink, GENTLE Gingerbread AND PURITY Peach.
  • I am a male, what Dr.’s REMEDY product should I use to cover my nails (or hide discoloration)?

    • We suggest either LOYAL Linen, PROMISING Pink, PURITY Peach or GENTLE Gingerbread - depending upon skin tone.

  • Which Dr.’s REMEDY polishes work best for a french manicure?

    • We suggest LOYAL Linen or PERFECT Petal Pink, in conjunction with CLASSIC Cloud and
TOTAL Two-in-One for the perfect French Manicure.

RESCUE Red is a classic ‘fire truck’ red (red with orange undertones).

BALANCE Brick Red is a ‘deep maroon’ red with hints of purple

REVIVE Ruby Red is a deep, darker red with shimmer, (it’s darker than Dorothy’s iconic ruby slippers).

*NEW SASSY Scarlet is a deep, rich ruby with no shimmer or sparkle.

*Our customer service is available to answer these types of questions during business hours or by emailing [email protected].

Wearability

  • How long should I expect my manicure to last?

    • Dr.’s REMEDY wears similar to a traditional nail polish. With normal, everyday activity, polish should last between 5 to 7 days. A pedicure with Dr.’s REMEDY will last up to 1 month, but this is not recommended. Podiatrists advise their patients remove or reapply toe nail polish after 7 to 10 days.
  • I bought a bottle of Dr.’s REMEDY last year, what’s the shelf life?

    • After you open your bottle of Dr.’s REMEDY for the first time, your polish will have a 2 year shelf life if stored at room temperature. Never store bottles in the refrigerator or leave your polish in a hot car.

Treatments

  • What’s the difference between Hydration and Total? Which is best for me?

    • TOTAL Two-in-One can be used as a top and a base coat. TOTAL can be applied directly to the nail and can be applied over polish to seal the manicure. HYDRATION can also be applied directly to the nail to hydrate dry or brittle nails. When used alone as a treatment, apply 2 coats of HYDRATION. When used as a base coat under polish, apply 1 coat of HYDRATION directly onto the nail.

*Hydration should not be used as a top coat.
  • How do I use HYDRATION?

    • Apply directly to the nail. As a stand alone treatment, apply 2 coats. As a base coat, apply 1 coat under the polish. We recommend also using CALMING Clear as a sealing finish.
  • I have a fungus, will TOTAL help?

    • Our clear and shaded polishes will not cure fungus; they are meant be used in conjunction with
prescribed medication or an over-the-counter topical. Try Anti-fungal CARESS Cuticle Oil. Our cuticle oil contains FDA approved Undecylenic acid to treat fungal infections.

*We recommend consulting with your doctor about the best course of action for your individual condition.
  • Will the cuticle oil help with fungus on/under the nail? My fungus isn’t directly on the cuticle.

    • Yes. The cuticle bed is where the nail starts to grow. By keeping the cuticle free of fungus, the new nail will grow healthier and stronger.

*It takes approximately 6 months for new healthy nail growth to form after a fungal infection.
