HERE'S HER STORY:
“I was very curious about trying a medical pedicure. Marie Claire magazine wrote about medical pedicures  and after I read it, I was eager to try one. I didn’t know how it was different from a ‘regular’ pedicure, but I soon learned that the goal of a medi-pedi is to examine and possibly treat foot and nail disorders. Right away, I was comforted when the podiatrist examined my feet. He assured me that I was a good candidate to receive the pedicure. (Some of these common foot problems could prevent you from having the service).

First, my nails were trimmed by a licensed nail technician. My calluses and cuticles along with the rest of the dead skin were safely removed with a sterile tool called a dremel (which had disposable sanding pads). I felt good knowing that someone well-trained was caring for my feet. What if I had a corn, bunion or a fungal infection? I knew I was in good hands. To my surprise, my cuticles weren’t trimmed, but rather the excess lightly flaked off with the dremel tool (podiatrists are against removing the cuticle entirely because it helps ward off infection). *My feet were never submerged in water, but my feet never felt cleaner or healthier, and they had a much smoother appearance!

After, the nail technician painted my nails with Dr.’s REMEDY nail products and applied Dr.’s REMEDY enriched cuticle oil. For the final step she applied foot deodorant! (I was surprised too!)

Usually you feel like your feet look great after getting a ‘regular’ pedicure, but it fades after a shower or bath. After getting a medi-pedi my feet actually look and feel healthier and the feeling is longlasting!

Top 5 reasons a medical pedicure is better than a regular one

Advantages Of A Dry Pedicure:

  • It’s safer for clients with certain medical conditions (like diabetes) where foot soaking isn’t recommended.
  • Reduces the risk of infection since there are general risks associated with water-borne bacteria.
  • Many nails techs have found that polish lasts longer when styled over drier nails.
  • You’re less likely to spread fungus since there’s no standing water.
  • It takes less time to set up than a traditional pedicure.

Other Benefits To Medical Procedures

  • PROMOTES CIRCULATION
  • RELAXES THE BODY
  • EXFOLIATES THE FEET
Exfoliation, or removal of dead skin cells, prevents the cells from accumulating and causing bunions or corns, which can be uncomfortable and painful. The removal of the dead skin on your feet, especially on the heel, encourages new cell growth which creates smoother and more attractive feet.
  • EARLY DETECTION OF PROBLEMS
Receiving a regular pedicure can help detect early signs of corns, bunions and fungal infections. These conditions are easier to treat when they are identified in its earlier stages.
  • DECREASES CHANCES OF INFECTIONS
Clipping, cutting and cleaning of the toenails prevent them from growing inward and causing infection. The elimination of dirt and bacteria from your feet will also help prevent nail diseases disorders (fungi) and foot odors. It is also important to keep toenails healthy because they protect toes from trauma.
